The Biggies' League is a not-for-profit Romanian dog rescue established in 2018 and run entirely by volunteers. We have had over 4,000 successful adoptions and currently have dogs available both within the UK and in Romania. Please see the Adoptable Dogs page to see who we have available.
Scroll to the bottom of this page to see Testimonials from our Adopters! There are many reasons to choose Rescue over a Breeder, but why should you consider an International Rescue? As we have seen with Romania, Dogs are very often seen no more than free labour rather than a companion. Larger Dog breeds are bred to guard homes and livestock and when they are no longer able to do their jobs, they are just abandoned to the streets where they are then treated as vermin. |
There is also a lack of Responsible Ownership, mostly due to lack of education and/or finances in which too often owners won't neuter their dogs. Unfortunately, very often, their dogs will breed and the pups are just abandoned at a young age. Many of these pups are found malnourished, covered in parasites, riddles with diseases and on the brink of death.
If a dog is 'lucky' enough to be surrendered to a shelter, it's more likely that the shelter is what is referred to as a 'Kill Shelter'. These shelters have a very short turnaround of dogs and if they aren't claimed or adopted within a matter of days, they'll be added onto a very sad list. These shelters are also too commonly overcrowded, full of disease and parasites such as Mange, Ticks and Fleas, all of which make for very sickly dogs. Dogs which have experienced a life on the streets and/or in a shelter most likely have suffered some trauma and develop survival instincts that Rescue Dogs in the UK wouldn't have had to. International Rescues requires Love, Patience and a Desire to give Dogs the life that they always deserved. |
